Important club news

Safeguarding is quite rightly regarded by the LTA and elsewhere as of the utmost importance in ensuring that all vulnerable people are suitably supported. Like all LTA registered tennis clubs we have a Welfare Officer, and in recent years, this role has been undertaken very well by Laura Day. She is now stepping down with immediate effect and I'd like on behalf of the club to thank her not just for what she has done in that role, but also for her many years on the committee, supporting the club in a number of valuable ways.

Race Night and Club News

Next Saturday the 16th of November sees the return of race night. It's £2 entry on the door. The night starts at 7.30pm and all races will be shown on the TV in the main bar. Last year's event was great fun and very successful, - big thanks again to Mark Ellis for organising.

This weekend Oct 26/27th

This coming weekend, we are hosting an LTA tournament that Phil is organising and consequently there will be limited courts available. In particular, on Saturday 26th, there has been an unexpected take up and despite attempts at restricting numbers, from about 3.30 all Tiger Turf and Clay courts will be needed by the tournament, leaving the 3 hard courts for members. In order to compensate members, Phil is going to run a free social Christmas themed tournament for members on a Saturday in December.

Autumn at RLTC

As mentioned at the finals night event, there is plenty going on during the autumn at the club. Next Saturday Oct 19th, from 2-4pm, Phil is organising a free social tournament. Please sign up on the club noticeboard for this as numbers are limited to 24, and there are now only a limited number of spaces left. Those who recall his tournament back in the spring will know what a fun afternoon is in store! Fingers are crossed for some decent weather.

Summer Success for RLTC

May I wish very hearty congratulations to our winning and promoted teams this summer. 115 of our adults played league tennis this summer, and following a comprehensive play off win this weekend, our ladies 1st team have been promoted to the Premier 2 league, so very well done Zara and team. Our mens 1sts, 3rds and 5ths have all won their 2nd successive promotions this summer, so huge congratulations to Ross, Griff and Lee for running those teams so well. Our mens 1sts will be in Premier 1 next season, so there should be some excellent tennis to watch and enjoy.

Open and Vets Finals Sept 27th and 28th

As there are so many finals to be played, we may schedule some finals for the evening of Friday 27/9 as well as on Saturday 28/9 so please keep both dates free, especially of course if you're playing! Also though, always good to have a good crowd of supporters to watch what promises to be some tip-top tennis.

Please could last year’s winners find, polish & return your trophies to James or Chris at the club.

There are a total of 14 finals to be played, and we'll be looking for 14 volunteer umpires - please let Chris or James know if you are willing to help.

Club Tournament Finals and Party

Hi All,

Welcome back to those who have been away for their summer holidays, and very many thanks to all those getting tournament matches completed.

The Open and Vets finals will be taking place during the day on 28th September, including plenty of plate finals, so come along and support the matches!

In the evening there will be a 70s Funk Disco with live band The Funky Love Posse (featuring Chloe on saxophone!) and a barbecue.

Tickets are £10 including:

Teas Today Sat Aug 24th

There are some wonderful cakes left over from yesterday's spectacular spread following Chris's Memorial Service. They will be available in the clubhouse at 4.30pm this afternoon, and contributions from this afternoon's teas will be donated to the charities supported by Chris, namely Tenovus and Velindre.

Teas this Saturday August 17th

I'm delighted to say that teas will again be available at RLTC this Saturday 17th August, 4.30pm. The rugby is on terrestrial tv, (K.O.2.15pm), so can be on the clubhouse tv should there be demand. Tennis, Teas, and International Sport - a perfect Saturday afternoon! My thanks, our thanks of course to all those who help keep the teas tradition going.
