Tennis Teas

As you all know the long awaited tennis teas begin this Saturday which myself and my kids can't wait for!

For any new members unfamiliar with tennis teas they are a tradition at Radyr Tennis Club and run every Saturday at 4:30pm during social tennis. In order for this to happen we ask that members volunteer once a year to provide a “tea” in teams of two. As male members are asked to volunteer for the bar rota we ask all ladies if they would sign up for the tea rota. Any male wishing to show case his baking skills will not be refused!

New Tennis Season Starts Here - timetable for this Saturday

This Saturday April 8th sees the start of what will surely be a really exciting season for Radyr LTC. Starting at 2pm, the day will include a chance to see club legends showing why they are the very best in South Wales, a chance to try and buy tennis equipment from YC Sports, a seniors' social tennis tournament, chairman's teas, a happy hour in the bar, and a BBQ to round things off in style. There will also be a opening day special offer to buy new tennis balls at at least a 20% discount to our normal price.

Six Nations, Clay Update, and Key Dates

I'm very pleased to say that the clubhouse and bar will be open from 2.30pm this Saturday 18th for the climax of this year's Six Nations tournament. We all owe a great debt to Mags for her stirling work in running the bar. Hardly a day passes without some of her time being given over to ordering and receiving supplies, cleaning the pipes, tidying and cleaning the whole bar area, maintaining the accounts (and last year raising several thousand pounds for the club), and actually pouring the pints regularly. Please help her by volunteering willingly to assist!

Court access from Monday 13th March

I am very pleased to say that the work to resurface 3 of our courts with artificial clay remains on schedule to start on Monday 13th March. During the time that the work is taking place, please take special care when on the club grounds, and be on the look out for further updates and communication regarding your safety. We recommend that children are delivered to and from their coaching court in person and not left unsupervised.

Membership Renewal

Over the next few days I will be sending emails from ClubSpark inviting you to renew and pay for your Membership, which is due on 1 April.  If your membership is paid before that date there is a discount for the Family, Senior, Senior U24 and Junior categories.  The amount showing on ClubSpark is the discounted price.  To renew and pay for your membership click on the link in the email.

It gives me the greatest of pleasure to wish the heartiest of congratulations to our mens vets 1st team. In their first season in the top division, they have won the league with a match to spare. This is the first time ever that one of RLTC's teams have won the very highest South Wales tennis division (in their category) in the history of the club. Well done to captain Chris Lewis, along with a squad of Dave Bono, Mike Taylor, Jim Martin, Richard Healey and Andrew Morgan.
