New Head Coach

I’m both delighted and excited to announce that Radyr LTC has a new Head Coach, starting on Jan 1st 2019. Following our advert on the LTA website back in October, we were very pleased to have a number of very strong applications. Now, after a thorough process involving members representing all sections of the club, and our governing body Tennis Wales, we have appointed Phil Thomas to the role. Phil impressed us with his vision for the club, experience, energy and enthusiasm for tennis, and on court visibly improved a number of our juniors in a single session.

Phil has over 20 years of coaching experience working in many environments both in the UK and abroad. As a LTA Level 4 Senior Performance Coach, and a former professional player, he has a widely respected track record in player development. Phil added, “I’m delighted to be back in the Head Coach role at one of Wales’ most prestigious tennis clubs. I’m looking forward to strengthening the overall club coaching programme and building on the past successes. The club Academy programme will cater for all members and I hope to help each individual fulfil their potential.”

Watch this space for further details of dates in January 2019 when there will be opportunities to meet Phil. On behalf of the club, may I warmly welcome Phil as Head Coach to Radyr LTC, and I’m sure we can all look forward to some great tennis in 2019 and beyond.
